THE CONCEPT

la danseuse (french, /dɑ̃.søz/): the dancer (dɑːnsə, feminine)

Edgar Degas was primarily known for his paintings and drawings, particularly of dancers and the ballet. However, he was also a pioneer in photography. His photographic works often depicted everyday scenes and experiments with composition and lighting. Degas used photography as a tool to study movement and capture fleeting moments, much like his paintings of dancers in motion. His photographic style was intimate, showcasing a candid and sometimes unconventional perspective of the subjects, offering a glimpse into the artist's exploration of the medium beyond his renowned paintings.
