THE CONCEPT

It is a remarkable fact that so many influential artists of the 20th Century spent time at The Bauhaus. Often beginning as students and graduating to become instructors and directors of the school’s various departments and workshops, artists maintained a robust creative life during their time at the school and beyond.

This garment features an anthology of brief biographies about many notable artists of The Bauhaus across it’s sleeves and chest, and a dedication to founder of The Bauhaus and author of its manifesto, Walter Gropius on the back. The entirety of the manifesto is expressed here, surrounded by graphic elements that are both informative and structural, being arranged in the spirit of The Bauhaus aesthetic. Crested by our embroidered Outsider Supply scripted logo at neckline, this piece has a mixed-media effect that is visually compelling and cerebrally engaging while drawing attention to material tactility to create an homage and historical accounting all at once.
